Pearl - 1997 Toyotal Landcruiser FJ80
This 1997 Toyotal Landcruiser is, literally, a flower from Japan. Her first owners where Japanese immigrants to Belize and brought this truck with them. All wheel four-wheel drive, a five speed transmission and an inline 6-cylinder that purrs like a kitten and roars like a lion. When we found her she had a pretty rough exterior, but her interior was in great shape, and outside of a challenging carburetor rebuild, she was in great mechanical shape. Her Moonlight Pearl paint job gives her two completely different looks; one during the day and another at night with the pearl paint reflecting light in a way that really makes her sparkle.

Interesting Origin - Japan
So, the tale goes that this truck was originally brought from Japan by immigrants. The truck serial number is definitely Japanese. The moonlight pearl color is reminiscent of a reflecting pool in a Japanese garden.

Carburetor, Carburetor, Carburetor!
This carburetor was not very nice at all. Filled with goop. left behind when she sat for months, it was cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned again. Carburetor was then rebuilt, run, cleaned again. Run, cleaned again. And then finally she purrs like a kitten!

I Used to be Green & Grey
When we first found Pear she was the green and gray two tone that left quite a bit to be desired. With four flat tires, a crushed in luggage rack, and a known carburetor problem; we still had high hopes for Pearl.

On the road..
After a series of road tests, another carburetor cleaning, a radiator burst and some belt problems; Pearl is ready for her next expedition....to explore another Mayan ruin in Belize!!
